Picking golden oyster from a dead tree trunk

My name is Maya Ginsburg, I live in  Lotem village in the Galilee.

And for a few years now I have been moving and roaming around the world after the mushrooms.

I spend the winters in Israel gathering, learning and training of different audiences, and during spring and summer  I travel around the world learning about mushrooms.

Today I strive to answer the wonderful world of mushrooms for anyone who wants to hear to learn, and in whatever way he chooses. In the past, I ran a guiding center at the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel, and witnessed with tourists the magic of birds in the Hula Lake.

I also studied several degrees in the academy where I mainly dealt with the connection between man and his environment.

Here on the site I also offer the opportunity to participate in my tutorials in Israel and around the world, but mostly I offer the opportunity to open up to something new and intriguing, which until now may have seemed distant and threatening, but is slowly opening up to you. It's a formal invitation from me to you - fall in love with mushrooms.

The "fall in love with the mushroom" venture was set up to address the need . About a year after I started going out and practicing mushrooms, voices came from friends, acquaintances, and completely foreign people who asked if I'd be willing to go out with them and tell them how to fall in love with mushrooms like that. At first, I would just go out with everyone who asked, until the diary started filling up, and there was no time left, and then I started organizing events. Through the demand I realized that the desire to study the subject is great, and in fact there are many tools for learning the subject.

There is a perception that the mushroom world is for experts (or interns only) .
If you do not know all the species by their Latin names (or at least aspire to it), if you are not interested in microscopic observation of spores, if you do not grow mushrooms at home, or read scientific articles (etc., etc.), you are not suitable for this world. I think this concept is fundamentally wrong. There are so many ways to access mushrooms! Whether through the field, through reading, through growing, through cooking in the kitchen, medicine (in all shapes and sizes), design (furniture and clothing made from mushrooms) and more and more ...

The mushrooms are not an ordinary organism - they have real power to attract and intrigue us! Therefore, anyone should be given space to practice and learn at whatever level they want.

I encourage those interested to go out. Workshops and tours as well as reading books is nice, but it does not replace the independent exit. Because, as mentioned, there is a lot of information on the subject, and mushrooms are an area that is difficult to learn "on the cutting edge." The tools are simple, follow the basics - get to the right place, at the right time, with the right set and just start falling in love !

Mushrooms are for everyone! Here on a community blog and knowledge of the mushroom world, you will find some short articles that talk about the topic and their main purpose is to allow everyone to go mushrooming and start looking their way in the wonderful mushroom world. The recommendations and advice are based on my experience and that of friends I met along the way, and for me they are worth gold! So feel free to take a peek and start paving your way through the woods.

And of course - keep in mind - mushrooms are also a complex creature, and within the kingdom there are also species that can be harmful. Go out into the area carefully and responsibly, best way is to go out with someone who know the local species.
